Final Lap is an experiment in redefining what a musical score is. If scores tell the performer what to do when and for how long, then a MarioKart Wii track could be a score, especially since there are musical instruments that change notes just by pressing buttons. Final Lap takes the different button presses and motion controls from the Wiimote and assigns sounds and other actions to them. Because of how abstracted the score is, and the relative simplicity of playing MarioKart, Final Lap also acts a way to introduce audiences to electroacoustic music, focusing on the accessibility of creating sound.
