for cello and electronics
Inside Out explores sounds a cello can produce without the strings. The first sound is of the performer tapping the body of the cello. Because of how the cello is shaped, different areas create slightly different timbres. The second sound requires the performer to (lightly) rub the instrument with a superball mallet. This mallet creates an eerie groan from the cello. The electronics are either processing the audio live, or are recording the performer.
